Memory saver: unload idle Chrome tabs without moving them
Tabs stay exactly where they are; ones you aren’t using stop taking memory, and reload when you open them.
The steps: Unused for 30 minutes → Sleep.
Who it's for
- People who like their tab strip exactly as it is.
- Laptops short on memory.
What happens
- A tab you have not used for 30 minutes is put to sleep: unloaded, in the same place.
- Click it and it reloads.
Always
- The tab you are on is never moved or closed.
- Pinned tabs and sites you protect are never touched.
- Tabs in groups you made yourself and tabs playing sound stay where they are.
Good to know
- It is like Chrome's own Memory Saver, with a timing you choose. Nothing is ever closed.
How to use it
- Download Memory saver: a small workflow file.
- Open Few's editor (click Few in Chrome's toolbar, then Rules), choose Import and pick the file.
- Save. The steps replace your current workflow; your protected sites and grouping stay as they are. Every step can be changed afterwards.
